This piece is inspired by long summer afternoons spent strolling around McDonald Woods at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Once an ecologically devastated area, restoration efforts have returned the area to a thriving oak woodland habitat. The woods are home to five different community types and a startling amount of plant and animal diversity.
Gouache on 300gsm watercolor paper, signed on the back. Painting comes framed in a black, aluminum gallery style frame with a white, acid free mat. Framed dimensions are 8x10”.
